Thoughts from Michael

2023 in Review

Hello, and welcome to Baron Watch Company’s 2023 year in review. If you’re reading this, you’re either a willingly captive audience to our updates or the proud owner of a Stargazer 1.0. First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support – the warmth we’ve received through our network has been incredible. I think of this year as having two major themes — firsts and learning.

In the realm of firsts, our journey began with establishing an LLC, the birth of a website, and an agreed-upon set of guiding principles, written below:

1. We are here to make friends
2. Make things that are different
3. Be better tomorrow than we are today.

We designed and sourced the parts and had our first small batch of watches assembled. We even sold quite a few. We convinced our Uncle to make the first purchase. He is the reason why we are obsessed with time! We also had to complete several firsts that we did not want to. We paid quarterly sales tax, had to hire an accountant, and started a Reddit and Instagram account for Baron Watch Co.

On the learning front, we discovered that we are slow, like half a year slow. We learned that even easy things can take time. Michael learned that Josh can spend hours looking at fonts. Josh learned that Michael’s workspace was too dirty for a client’s watch. Don’t worry; we outsource assembly to professionals.

Collaboration, we learned, is an art of its own. Most importantly, we learned that we have some excellent ideas and can get things done. I am incredibly proud of the Stargazer 1.0. It is an outstanding entry-level package that offers a newcomer a path into Horology at a value-level price. It is the perfect starting point for a new company and a product that I hope we get to sell for a long time.

As for 2024, we have our sights set on some lofty goals. Here are a few:

1. Sell more watches.
2. Introduce another color (or 2) to Stargazer 1.0
3. Begin design work on what’s next

Thanks for joining us on this joyride. Keep gazing at the stars, and here’s to a year filled with laughter, success, and family.

Cheers to a time well spent!
